MCILROY, AUTREY L.
Of Burton, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at his residence.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on June 19, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Dan Blankenship officiating.
Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am on Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Autrey was born in the only state mentioned in the bible, Kahoka, Arkansas on July 16, 1935, the son of the late James E. and Susan (Misenheimer) McIlroy. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Autrey retired from General Motors after 45 years. Autrey loved all sports and was good at anything he played, including shooting pool, bowling and golfing. More than anything he enjoyed singing and going to church. He even coined the nickname the “walking songbook”. Autrey attended Deliverance Tabernacle and Crossroads Temple most recently.
He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Lee McIlroy and Regena Elizabeth (McIlroy) Murphy; grandchildren, Donnie Lee Lambert and Marthoe D. White, David D. White, Daniel Lee White, Danny Ray Murphy and Kevin Andrew Murphy; great-grandchildren, Penelope Gwen Lambert, Nicholas Lambert, Ronan Lambert, Makenzie Murphy, Raliegh Murphy, Christian Murphy, Sydney White and Samuel White; brothers, John Leman McIlroy, Sr. and William Jarrel McIlroy “Jerry”; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois E. McIlroy; dad, James E. McIlroy; mom, Susan K. McIlroy; siblings, Kirby, Curtis, Carnie, Calvin, Carlos, Coleman and Lawrence McIlroy, Jewel McIlroy Hurst and Mary McIlroy Blue.
