CONWAY, Gerald “Gus” R. – age 62 of Fenton, MI passed away on Tuesday, July 19th, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family. Per his wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, July 25, 2016 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Fenton Community Center - 150 S. Leroy St. Fenton, MI. A tribute to Gus will be officiated by Brad Tankersley at 7:00pm. Gus was born on December 13, 1953 in Flint, MI to John and Rita (Hubert) Conway. He married Lynne Hooker-Murray on July 8, 2000. They met one another 28 years ago while both working at Lake Fenton Marina. Gus had a passion for the outdoors, particularly Michigan’s many lakes. He was able to incorporate that love into his work and was the owner/operator of Shoreline Seawalls for more than 30 years. Gus loved music…from Jimmy Buffett to Van Morrison; it was not unusual for him to wake the house up on a Saturday morning by blasting Stevie Ray Vaughn. He loved to travel and experience new places, and he loved to show his family and friends the places he enjoyed. Out of all of the places that Gus loved to travel, Jamaica held a special place in his heart. Through his many travels he accumulated a wealth of stories and would tell them to anyone who would listen. One of the many things that Gus will be remembered for are what his family and friends referred to as “Gus-isms.” He had a saying for every occasion and phrases that were uniquely him, from “What’s giggin’?” to “Rubber side down.” Gus was an amazing person with a larger than life personality and even bigger heart. He was a loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife, Lynne Conway; step-daughter, Nikki Murray; step-son, Joe (Samantha) Murray; grandchildren, Daxton and Dalton; sisters, Pam (Tim) Teunis and Paula (Mickey) Noffsinger; brother, Patric Conway; several nieces and nephews, and many other family members and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward “Corky” Conway. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the family or Old Newsboys in his memory. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.hillfh.com. Arrangements provided by Hill Funeral Home – 11723 S. Saginaw St. Grand Blanc, MI. |
