BADE, Helen L. - Of Flint, age 100, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Woodhaven Senior Community.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Friday, April 15, 2016 at
St. John Vianney Catholic Church 2415 Bagley Street, Flint,
Father Thomas Firestone officiating.
Burial in St. Johns Cemetery in Davison.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John Vianney Catholic Church, The North End Soup Kitchen or Powers High School.
Visitation 3-8pm Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Scripture Service will be held 7pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 9am Friday at church until the time of the Mass.
Helen was born in Flint on January 26, 1916, the daughter of the late William and Melissa (Drake) Nixon. Helen lived life to the fullest. She loved her Detroit Tigers and attended games up to the age of 97. She volunteered at the North End Soup Kitchen. She also helped out and attended St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Mrs. Bade worked for the Skinner and Joseph Law Firm. She married the love of her life, Alton A. Bade in 1937 and he has passed as have her three sisters, Gurneth Winstrom, Neva Winstrom and Hollice (Polly) Hagler.
She and her husband have three children, Richard (Sheri), Barbara Huffman, and Robert (Connie).
Helen also leaves seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
