ZBICIAK, Martin L. – Of Flint, age 59, died Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Per Mart’s wishes, cremation will take place following the service.
Visitation 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Martin was born in Flint, Michigan on August 7, 1956, the son of the late Joseph and Cecilia (Kondracki) Zbiciak.
He graduated from Flint Southwestern High School Class of 1974 and attended the Corrections Recruit Academy in Lansing.
Mart married Debra Stephens on December 20, 1977 in Flint.
Mart was a member of Dom Polski of Flint and the Eagles Club.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking and spending time in the upper peninsula.
Mart started his professional career at the Flint Journal from 1973-1976, Fisher Body from 1976-1987 and a Corrections Officer from 1988 until his retirement on March 1, 2013.
Surviving are wife, Debbie;
two daughters, Suzy Zbiciak of Davison,
Tracy and husband Adam Patton of Lansing;
four grandsons, David and Martin Zbiciak,
Joseph and Robert Patton;
five brothers and sister, Bill and wife Lucille Kirchner of Kent, WA,
Barbara of California,
Ray and wife Karen Zbiciak of Davison,
Randy Zbiciak of Flint,
Joe and wife Cheryle Zbiciak of Flint Township and
Nick Zbiciak of Holly;
three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Ann Ripley and friend, Lee Anderson of Brutus,
Kathy L. and husband Darrel Childs of Roscommon,
Trina and husband Joe Gorton of Burton;
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Charles and Gwyn Stephens and brother-in-law, Charles Daniel Stephens.
