RYAN, James Michael - Of Goodrich, age 54, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011
at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach Street, Flint,
Father Frederick H. Taggart, O.S.A. officiating.
Cremation will take place following the Funeral Mass.
Memorial Donations may be made to Humane Society and Habitat for Humanity
Visitation 11 a.m. -1 p.m. and 5-8p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Scripture Service will be held 7p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Michael will be at the church 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the Mass.
Michael was born in Flint on May 3, 1957, the son of Thomas Patrick and Marion (Wendell) Ryan. He married Melissa Kihlstrand on May 31, 2003 in Flint, MI. Michael and Melissa were blessed with a son Thomas born on June 3, 2009. Michael graduated from the Valley School and received his business degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Thomas, Marion and Michael were benefactors of many projects at U of M. He assumed ownership of Tom Ryan Distributing, Inc. in 1991 and served on the Michigan Beer and Wine Wholesalers Association Executive Committee. Michael loved boating, flying, driving cars, riding motorcycles, he was a true horsepower enthusiast. He was a strong supporter of the Humane Society and Habitat for Humanity.
Michael was a Force of Life.
Surviving are wife, Melissa;
Son Thomas Patrick, age 2;
Sisters, Mary Daniels and husband Jim, Wendy Staroba, Kathleen Smith and husband Scott;
Many nieces and nephews;
Michael enjoyed a special relationship with his brother-in-law, Paul Staroba;
Beloved dogs, Jessie, Huey and Nelson.
James was preceded in death by his father Thomas Patrick and mother Marion Wendell, brother, Thomas P. Ryan, Jr. and sister, Kelly Ryan.
