KELTS, Joan E. – of Davison, age 87, passed away December 25, 2018 at Hurley Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, December 29, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Burial will follow in Davison Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 PM Friday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Joan was born in Petoskey, MI on April 5, 1931, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Haas) Fortune. She was the 2nd oldest of 10 children. Joan married Atwood H. Kelts on September 15, 1950. She loved taking care of her family and would insist on Friday luncheons every week. Joan worked at Bell Telephone as an operator and at the Waloon Lake General Store.
Joan is survived by her husband, Atwood H. Kelts; children, Joan (Jon) Whitman, Beth (Carl) Archambeau, Jack (Ginny) Kelts, Kenneth (Teresa) Kelts, Sharon (Vicki) Kelts, Judith Kelts, Mitzi (Tim) Fromwiller, Lori (John) Cornack, Melanie (Bill) Morey, Julie Williams, Andre Kelts and Charlene (Eric) Lundy; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three siblings. She was preceded in death by her sons, Robert Norman Kelts on April 9, 1976 and Joel Thomas Kelts on December 24, 2017; six siblings.
