KELLY, Shirley Ann. – of Flint, age 88, died on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at McFarlan Home of Flint. Funeral services will be held at 3PM Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Cremation to follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday from 11AM until the time of service at 3PM.
Shirley was born February 26, 1931 in Flint, Michigan to the late John and Zelma (Seeley) Palmatier. She married Thomas G. Bates, Sr. He preceded her in death. Shirley later married Richard Kelly, and he preceded her in death. She was employed with a petroleum company for several years and also worked for Northwest Bowl as a bartender. Shirley enjoyed traveling, walking her dogs, playing the lottery, bingo, trips to the casino, and running the roads. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and spoiling them.
Surviving are: Daughter, Julie (Scott) Shifflett; Son, Doug Bates; 10 grandchildren: Theresa Crang, Melissa (Terry) Cramer, Jessica Helmer (Jason), Kylee Bradley, April Bates, Corina Webb, Jonathan LeBeau, Nicole Bates, Scott Bates, Thomas Bates III; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; Brother, Richard (Doris) Palmatier; Sister in law, Ruth Palmatier. Shirley was also preceded in death by her daughter, Marian Miller; Sons: Thomas Bates, Jr., and Brian Bates; Granddaughter, Kimberly Bates; Brother, Larry Palmatier; Loving furry companion, Chase.
