VANDESTEEN, Florence M. – of Davison, age 91, our awesome mother, went home to be with her Lord Friday, March 1, 2013 at Genesys Hospice Care Center- Goodrich. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. A Rosary will be prayed 7:00 PM Monday with the Daughters of Isabella, Regina Coeli Circle. On Tuesday, visitation will be at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church or Outreach East.
Florence was born in Flint, MI on October 12, 1921, daughter of the late Alois and Victoria (Yankee) Fisher. She married Gus Vandesteen on July 10, 1943 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Gus preceded her in death on May 16, 2010. Florence was a member at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella and had just earned her 45-year pin. Florence enjoyed polka dancing, fishing, crocheting and, especially, playing cards. She loved to pray which she felt was very important. Florence worked at AC Spark Plug during WWII.
Florence is survived by her children, Denise (Dennis) Stevanus, Vicki (Joe) Franta, Michele (Brian) DeMonia, Renee (John) Charron and Krisie (Greg) Nave; grandchildren, Josh, Abby (Craig), Jenny (Mike), Crystal (Jake), Joey, Jamie, Brent, Danny, Chelsea, Karli and Jake; great-grandchildren, Lucy, Gus, Sebastian and Rush; brother, Ted (Doris) Fisher. She was preceded in death by her son, Eddie Vandesteen; brothers, Larry and Bud Fisher.
