David Lee Huggler, of Burton, age 79 passed away January 15, 2019. Funeral service will be held 11 am, Monday, January 21, 2019 at Dodds Dumanois Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St. Flint, MI. Family will receive visitors from 11-7 pm, Sunday, January 20, at the funeral home and from 10 am Monday until time of service. Burial in Thetford Twp. Cemetery, Clio, MI. Pastor Bruce Nowacek officiating. The first son of Eldon and Leona (Thompson) Huggler, Dave was born in Alpena, Mich., on December 7, 1939. Growing up in Detroit and then Genesee, he graduated from Kearsley H.S., worked summers as a deckhand on Great Lakes iron-ore carriers, and graduated from the University of Michigan, Flint College. Dave worked at General Motors (A.C. Spark Plug Division) as a supervisor before earning his Realtor’s license and establishing a successful Flint-area business as an agent, broker and appraiser until retiring in 2007. A boyhood interest in swimming and scuba diving grew into an adult passion for fly fishing. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, playing poker and other card games, and traveling. Family and friends knew him for his generosity, humor and outgoing personality. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by Susan, his loving wife of more than 30 years. Also cherishing his memory are sons Mark and Scott (Sylvia); daughters Renee Scheck, Amy Caldwell, Robin Madden (Colum), Andrea Grobe (Kevin); 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and brothers Tom (Laura) and Al (Antoinette) Huggler.
