Age 93, of Lapeer, formerly of Mt. Morris, died peacefully Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Devonshire Retirement Village.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019, at 1:00 PM, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Drew Jolly will officiate, with burial to follow at FliAnt Memorial Park. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Friday, from 11:00 am until time of service. Memorial donations may be directed to the Genesee County Humane Society or the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Morris. Envelopes are availble at the funeral home.
Mildred was born in Croswell, Michigan, on August 18, 1925, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick and Mary (Isles) Collins. She married the love of her life, Elmer Mathe, on April 3, 1954, in Flint, Michigan. Sadly, he preceded her in death on July 3, 2008. Mildred worked as an office manager for the State of Michigan for many years. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Morris, serving as an officer for 50 years, and was a faithful servant in Ruth’s Circle and as a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, traveling, spending time with family and friends and spoiling her cats.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memory, sister, Ruth Meade; nieces: Janet and husband, John Wiecjonek, Pam and husband, Bud Ferrell, and Peggy Gilbertson and Norm Greenfield; several additional nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Elmer; her brother; Dale Collins; sister, Virginia Smith; and niece, Christina Edwards.
