SALERNO, William Paul - Of Swartz Creek, age 70, died Friday, September 12, 2014 at his residence.
Memorial service will be held 11am Friday, September 19, 2014
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Chaplain Goodman Cox officiating.
Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation 10am Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Wounded Warriors, St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital or A.L.S.
Bill was born in Flint on January 15, 1944, the son of the late Phillip and Pauline Salerno. Bill married Diana Scott on December 28, 1968 by the Justice of the Peace in Burton. He graduated from Flint Northern High School, Class of 1964 and served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. Bill enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting bowling and Sunday dinners with his family. He retired from General Motors Chevrolet V8 Engine Plant after 44 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #659.
Surviving are loving wife of 45 years, Diana;
children, Tammy Schroeder of Mt. Morris, Thomas Salerno of West Palm Beach, FL, Laura (Steve) Campana of Grand Blanc;
grandchildren, Kayla and Ryan Schroeder, Marina, Isabella and Brenden Compana;
sister, Annette Hickerson of Flint Township;
mother-in-law, Betty Scott of Flint;
sisters-and brothers-in-law, Patty and Gary Kelso of Grand Blanc Township and Cindy and Jerry Groulx of Pinconning;
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip, father-in-law, John A. Scott.
