MALINICH, William “Willie” – age 86, fell asleep in the Lord on April 4, 2017 in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home – 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan. A Panachida Service will be held Sunday at 7:30pm at the funeral home, following visitation. An Office of Christian Burial (Funeral) Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017 at St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church – 2333 Elms Road, Flushing, Michigan. The Very Reverend David A. Hannes, pastor of St. Michael’s will be officiating the service. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc. Willie was born on December 12, 1930 in Flint, Michigan to the late Andrew and Anna Malinich. Willie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was stationed in Alaska defending the northern border. In 1958, Willie married the love of his life Mary Ann Meyer in Flint, Michigan. He worked at General Foundry for 21 years. As a farmer, he became avid Tractor fan and was one of the original members of the Genesee Valley Tractor Collectors Club. He loved his birds. He referred to them as “Fancy Poultry”. Willie and Mary Ann were awarded numerous grand prize awards at the Genesee County Fair for their birds. Willie was a wonderful man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann; son, William “Bill” Malinich Jr.; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Anna Malinich; siblings, Andrew, Anna, Julie, John, Steve, Mike, and Margaret.
