TYLER, MARY M. – Of Flint Township, age 90, died Saturday, March 8, 2025 at home, surrounded by loving family.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, Father Steve Anderson officiating.
Entombment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Flint Association of the Deaf or Holy Redeemer Outreach.
Visitation 2p.m. – 8p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mrs. Tyler will be at the church 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of the Mass.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mary was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 10, 1934, the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Coloja) Borota. As an adolescent Mary attended St. Rita School for the Deaf in Cincinnati, OH and one year of college at Gallaudet University in Washington DC.
On April 8, 1961 she married her best friend and true love, Michael Tyler at St. Luke in Detroit, MI.
She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church since 1962. She was a longtime member of the Flint Association of the Deaf and the Women’s Auxiliary.
She was a phenomenal crocheter, loved crosswords, and cooking and caring for family and friends was an integral part of her kind nature and beautiful spirit. She was devoted to Blessed Mother Mary and was a member of the Flint Association of the Deaf. Mary loved to travel with her husband, Michael.
Surviving are husband, Michael;
children, Margaret Gould, John Tyler and Tony Tyler;
grandchildren, Rachel (Ricardo)Rodriguez, Hannah Gould and Jacob Gould;
great-grandchild, Roman Rodriguez.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Albu.
