FLOOD, Bernice “Bea” (Paclaw) – Of Flushing, age 96, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at her home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Flint, Father Thomas Firestone officiating.
Entombment at Flint Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Lukes New Life Center of Flint.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, 10-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Flood will be at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the Mass.
Bea was born in Flint, Michigan on January 27, 1917 and lived here her entire life.
Surviving are three children, Beverly (Douglas) Fisher, Kelly (Kathy) Flood, Sharon (Rick) Schlicht;
8 grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She dedicated her life to her family and even while working 16-18 hours a day she still found time for them.
Her grandchildren often teased her about her distinct laugh and many tried to mimic it unsuccessfully. That always transpired after some of her slightly off color jokes.
She was faithful to her adoration hour at St. Roberts Church for 22 years and to saying her rosary and nightly prayers. It was her prayers that we all counted to get us through the difficult times of our life. She seemed to have a direct line to God.
She owned and operated Associated Laundry and Quality Wee Wash It Laundries for 38 years.
Bea loved to do word search puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha (Lesney) and Rudolph Paclaw; sisters, Laura Chazick, Stella Uricek, Mary Paclaw; brother, Harry Paclaw and special cousin, Chester Marchuck.
We wish to thank Dr. Brian Bhagat, McLaren Visiting Nurses and McLaren Hospice for their excellent care of our mother.
