Helen O. Bigelow
Age 93, of Lapeer, MI and formerly of North Branch, MI passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024 at McLaren Hospital in Flint, MI. She was born on November 8, 1930 in Leachville, Arkansas to the late Charles and Clara Anderson (Vaught). Helen was highly educated, having earned her masters degree in education. It led her to a long and successful teaching career of 30 years until her retirement from the North Branch area schools in 1987. Helen enjoyed reading, writing books, tending to her flower gardens, playing cards and sharing her many life stories. She was very proud of authoring two books later in life. Helen is survived by her two sons, Wayne (Diane) Bigelow of Omer, MI, Eric (Laura) Bigelow of North Branch, MI; special cousin and friend, Alice (Steve) Miller; sister Melba Sarchett of Holland, MI; two grandchildren, Lindsay (Chris) Jaeger, Bryan (Brett) Bigelow and two great grandchildren, Miles and Wes Jaeger. She is also survived by her niece Becky (Dennis) King and nephew Tim (Kathy) Sarchett. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Bigelow whom she married on December 30,1950, sister Janet and brother Charles.
