Bob was a kind, gentle, and loving man. He was born August 13, 1937 in Swartz Creek. He graduated from Mary Crapo High School and Michigan State University with his degree in Agriculture. He was blessed to have 61 1/2 years of his life with his wife, Shar, they just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Bob farmed the family farm for 5 years, he then became an agent for Standard Oil and later an Amoco jobber with Home Heating, Gasoline, and Products for area farmers. He retired from the Oil Company and worked for Northwestern Mutual for 10 years, he then worked for AEMS and loved his work as a test driver and later a hub manager and project manager. Bob was a businessman at heart. He retired in 2006 when his heart was only 19%. He was so blessed to have another 9 years. He was very involved in his community. He was a past member of the Kiwanis Club where he served as president and the Knights of Columbus. Bob was a faithful, kind, and gentle man, who loved his God. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he served on the Finance Committee for 22 years and worked many years on the church festival and cooked many chicken dinners. He especially loved flying his planes until he couldn't fly, he would go to the airport everyday and sometimes get a ride or talk to his special friend, Doug. Bob loved hunting, fishing, and being with his boy's. He raised them to be great men. He was a Scout Master for them for many years, and helped Scott and Tim to become Eagle Scouts. He also helped Tom Varney who was like a 5th son, earn his Eagle Scout Award. He sponsored Little League and supported all his son's activities. He was a great cook and loved to garden, so much that he was in competition in his neighborhood to see who could grow the biggest and brightest tomato. He also loved golfing and bowling on leagues until he couldn't continue. The last nine years of his life with only 19% of his heart, he still brought joy to peoples lives. Bob was peaceful and loving. On June 19th he was taken care of by Heartland Hospice and Dr. Seaone who called him a walking miracle, our thanks go out to all who cared for Bob. The Lord is good and he is now peaceful in Heaven.
