Ted was born in Manhattan, New York on March 22, 1939 to Theodore and Margaret (Wollschleger) Mayo.

He married the love of his life, Barbara Pope on November 10, 1973 in Flint.

Ted retired from MTA in 2000, after 22 years of service as a bus operator.

He also served with great honor in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Mary’s Queen of Angels in Swartz Creek.

Ted always had a joke or a story that could put a smile on your face. He was quite the entertainer. He was such a kind and caring man, always looking out for his fellow man. He loved animals and was always bringing home strays, which always became a part of the Mayo family.

After retirement he volunteered for local animal rescues and for The Salvation Army at Genesee Valley ringing the bell at the holidays.

His greatest joy was his son, Jason. Everyone knew how proud he was of him.

Left to cherish his memory, loving wife of 39 years, Barbara;

son, Jason;
brother, James (Kathy) of New City, NY;
sister and brother-in-law, Fred and Patty Herrick;

Grateful for special friends, Bill Luce, Mike, Kathy, Chris Norman and Deb LaFave;

his four legged girls, Maggie and Lily.
