BRUNELL, Gerald R. – Of Flint, age 80, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church G-5199 Richfield Road, Flint, Father George V. Puthenpeedika and Father Douglas Osborn con-celebrating.
Entombment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery with a military graveside service.
Contributions may be made in Gerry’s honor to the charity of one’s choice or Kearsley Athletic or Kearsley Music departments.
Visitation 2-9 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m-2 p.m. and 5-9 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Scripture Service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Brunell will be at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the Mass.
Gerry was born in Bay City, Michigan on June 21, 1932, to the parents of Louis and Estella Brunell.
Gerry graduated from Flint St. Mary’s in 1950, and was a proud member of the St. Mary’s Forty-niners.
Gerry served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Brunell retired from Buick in 1988, after working there for 38 years.
Gerry was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4090 and a member of the Singing Knights for 48 years.
Gerry was very proud of his activities with the community. He was a member of the Kearsley Community School Board, UCT, and active at St. Mary’s, St. Leo The Great and Holy Rosary.
Gerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, E. Yvonne;
Five children, Paul (Christine), Ann (Russ) Beagle, Chuck (Lisa), Mary (Don) Miron, Karen (Darell) Beamer;
14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren;
brother-in-law, Jerry Herman and many relatives and friends.
