Christensen, Eugene R. - Age 93, of Flushing, died Friday, April 8, 2016. Funeral services will be held 11AM Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 5PM-7PM Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warriors Project. Eugene was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of the late Ralph and Martha (Ganske) Christensen. Mr. Christensen married Florence Stocker on February 15, 1947. Eugene proudly served his country in United States Marine Corps League during WWII as a sergeant and later in the Korean War as a staff sergeant and chief investigator. He retired from the Flint Police Department as a lieutenant detective with 27 years of service. Eugene enjoyed fishing with his grand and great grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 69 years Florence of Flushing; son Neil Christensen of Traverse City; daughter, Nancy Hager of Flushing; grandchildren, Amie, Matthew, Elizabeth, Rachel; great grandchildren, Kyle, Travis, Samantha, Joshua, Alex, Sean, Emma and many nieces and nephews.
