LIQUIA, Edward – age 88 of Flint, MI passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 2PM-8PM. Funeral Services will be held at 12PM on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home – 1480 E. Hill Rd. Grand Blanc, MI with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Daniel L. Cocke officiating. Burial will take place at Flint Memorial Park in Mt. Morris, MI. Edward was born on June, 12, 1928 in Detroit, MI to the late Albert and Rose (Bopp) Liquia. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War. Edward married Barbara Kelly on August 7, 1948. He had worked as a surveyor for the State of Michigan and later retired as a maintenance worker for the City of Flint. In his construction days he was known as “Steady Eddy” because he could walk a beam for miles and make a seat out of a bucket of nails balanced on that beam. He enjoyed hunting, crossword puzzles, and was an avid watcher of sports. Edward was a very noble man and loved his country. He still stood by the belief in the “old fashioned” ways. He stood his ground in his beliefs and nobody would dare challenge him. Edward was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Edward is survived by his daughter, Evelyn Magsig of TX; son, Dennis (Ruth) Liquia; daughter Barbara (Tom) Booker, 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marion Knack; good friend, Mike Osborn, and many nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Liquia of 52 years; son, Eddy Liquia; sisters, Shirley and Dorothy; and brother, Albert. Contributions may be made to the family.
