DUCE, Bernice – At age 95, Bernice Blazenka Duce went to be with the Lord.
Memorial Visitation 2 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, The Reverend Donald Davidson officiating.
She was born in Croatia in 1922 and immigrated to Canada at the age of 8, growing up in northern Ontario.
She worked in Toronto until marrying James Russell Duce in 1949, who left this world in September 2016. They were married for 67 years and cherished their family.
She was a bookkeeper, secretary, great cook, super creative person, doing cake decorating, knitting, crocheting, painting, gardening, sewing, and just about any craft you can think of, all the while raising a family and being an outstanding mother and wife.
She loved her friends, family, and was always busy doing things with and for them. Cheering on her four hockey playing children, playing board games and card games with the family, and bringing the extended family together for holidays and celebrations. Bernice was always demonstrating her love and support.
She leaves to cherish her memory; 3 sons and daughter, with respective spouses: Anthony and Lindsey, Richard and Patricia, Diane and Keith Slosser, Raymond and Ellen.
Also, 10 grandchildren, with their respective spouses, Paul and Maria, Toni and Jesse, Kelly and Bryan, Kristen, Jamie and Daniel,
Nicole, Kyle and Rick, Russell, Cameron, and Lillian.
She leaves 13 great-grandchildren, Treyjen, Risa, Tali, Brit, McKenna, Ryder, Austin, Gianna, Colton, George and three on the way.
She wished to say goodbye to them all, but Alzheimer’s is a vicious disease, and towards the end, it robbed her of the ability to share her memories and victories of life.
She will be forever loved, missed, and remembered, and we know she will be happy being back with Dad.
