Rayanne J. Szewc, age 81, of Columbiaville left her earthly home on May 8, 2014 at McLaren - Lapeer Region Hospital.
She leaves behind her daughter Helen ( Louis ) Mitchell of Columbiaville, 2 grandsons: Nathan of Columbiaville, Tyler ( Carrie ) Mitchell and great grand-daughter Peyton all of Abilene Texas. She is also survived by her very special young friend Rebecca Spencer of Sebring, Florida and siblings; Ronald ( Mary ) Bright of Imlay city, Shirley ( Marvin ) Gerstenberger and Glenda ( T.J. ) Bellamy both of Florida and many special nieces, nephews, and friends. Rayanne was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Ruth Bright, husband Richard in 2004, son Bruce in 2011, and three brothers and two sisters.
She was married 53 years to Richard. Rayanne held a masters degree in education and taught school in both Lapeer and Goodrich for 35 years total. After retirement, Rayanne was a Program Specialist in Early Childhood Education in Flroda for 6 years and taught early childhood classes. She was a lifelong member of the N.E.A. and M.E.A. educational associations.
Rayanne was proud to be a member of the United Methodist Church since she was 12 years old and taught Sunday School for many years. She loved teaching, reading, decorating, crafts, gardening, and her family. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 13th at 11:00 AM at the Columbiaville United Methodist Church. Pastor Esther Irish to officiate. Memorials may be given in her memory to either the Alzheimer’s Association or the Columbiaville United Methodist Church pastor’s discretion fund. |
