Helen A. Jewett, age 100, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018. She was born on August 29, 1917 in Lawton, Michigan to parents Dea and Lacreta (Perkins) Turner. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1935 and Albion College in 1939. She taught at Grand Blanc Community Schools from 1939 to 1979. She was a member at First Congregational Church of Grand Blanc. Helen is survived by her children Thomas J. Jewett, James (Nancy) Jewett, and Sue Ann Jewett; grandchildren: James J. Jewett, Jennifer Jean (Jeremy) VanAntwerp, Jeffrey T. (Shannon Savage) Jewett; great grandchildren: Katrina, Joseph, and Jon Jewett, James, Margaret, John, Helen, and Elizabeth VanAntwerp, and Socha Jewett Savage. She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Joseph Jewett; siblings: Hazel (Richard) Van Noordwyk, Kathryn (William) Wray, and Jack (Bev) Turner. A Celebration of Life will take place at 2pm on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Rev. Max Hayden officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the funeral home, and again on Thursday, one hour prior to the service. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Helen may do so to the following organizations: Fish Inc. – Grand Blanc Chapter, First Congregational Church Memorial Fund, or a charity of your choice. |
