BRITT, Robert L. - Of Flint, age 68, died Sunday, October 11, 2015
at Hurley Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held 10am Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation 4-8pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Bob was born in Warm Springs, Georgia on October 18, 1946, the son of the late Marvin and Ozell Britt. Bob married Shirley Richmond on August 24, 1969 in Laurel, Mississippi. He graduated from high school in Detroit and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Bob was a Boy Scout Leader for several years. He enjoyed fishing, spending time at their cottage, boating, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Bob retired from General Motors Truck and Bus after many years of service and was a member of UAW Local #598.
Surviving are wife, Shirley;
sons, Robert Bernard (Long) of Grand Rapids and Byron (Laura) of Swartz Creek;
grandchildren, Sheilisa, Symone, Kelly, Benjamin, Gabriel and Cherish;
brother, Marvin Jr. of Mt. Morris;
sister, Mary Frances Bunkley of Detroit;
sisters-in-law, Linda (Willie) Walker of Laurel, Mississippi, Jacquelyn (Willie) Glasgow of Laurel, Mississippi and Lisa (Jerry) Brantley of Cordova, Tennessee;
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by several siblings.
Special thank you to daughter-in-law, Laura, Hildria Richmond, Dr. Raffee, Dr. Peram and the 9th floor doctors and nurses in ICU at Hurley for all their care and support.
