AIDRICH, Richard George Sr. – of Montrose, age 90, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at his residence. Honoring Richard’s wishes cremation has taken place and no service will be held at this time. Memorial contributions can be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation (garysinisefoundation.org) supporting disabled veterans and first responders.

Dick was born July 5, 1930, the fourth child of ten to Viril and Lena (VanLuven) Aldrich. He was a corporal in the US Marines from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. Dick owned Aldrich TV in downtown Montrose for 40 years and was an active member of the community. He played an integral part in the restoration of the Montrose Railroad Depot and enjoyed getting to know the people in his town.

Dick enjoyed fishing and camping. Some of his best memories were made at McCollum Lake while camping with his family. He also loved to sing old country songs to make his grandchildren laugh.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Catherine Aldrich; Children, Karen (Lee) Schoonover, Richard Aldrich Jr.; Grandchildren, Travis and Renate Phelps, Amber and Brandon Roberts, Megan and Geoff Childs. Dick also had seven great grandchildren whom he adored. He is preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, his grandson, Shane Aldrich and his granddaughter, Shanna Phelps.
