SMITH, James D. “Jim” – Of Flint Township, age 70, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020.
Private service will be held at Swartz Funeral Home, his niece, Kimberly Smith officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
James was born in Flint, Michigan on July 3, 1950, the son of Earl and Esther (Andrews) Smith.
He served in the U.S. Army.
On December 28, 1992 he married Margaret Phelps in Las Vegas.
He enjoyed classic car cruises and singing karaoke.
Mr. Smith retired from GM Grand Blanc Metal Fab.
Surviving are wife, Peggy;
son, Michael and wife Laura Smith of Linden;
grandchildren, Carson and Liam;
two stepsons, Joseph Herron of Flint and Todd Herron of St. Helen;
brother, Donald Smith of Flint;
several nieces, nephews and a host of special friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew; two siblings, David and Donna.
