DIEHL, Lillian – of Davison, age 99, passed away December 21, 2014 at Genesys Convalescent Center. A private burial has taken place at Davison Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3-7 PM Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. Memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA or Lapeer’s Adoptable Animals.
Lillian was born in Austin, MN on January 11, 1915, daughter of the late Charles and Esther (Smith) Ferguson. She married Lawrence “Lornie” Diehl and he preceded her in death on July 1, 1999. Lillian graduated from Otisville High and was the Class Treasurer. She had many special talents. Lillian was a great cook, creative woodworker and marvelous seamstress. Lornie and Lillian loved to go ballroom dancing. Mrs. Diehl actively owned and operated Ferguson Block Company. In 1933, she began her career after high school graduation and learned the business from the ground up. As a woman business owner and manager, she was a pioneer and role model for other women.
Lillian is survived by her two daughters, Darlene Johnston of Davison, MI, Linda Diehl (Keil) Wilson of Winnetka, IL and St. Joseph, MI; three grandchildren, Scott (Sherri) Johnston, Stephen (Kristi Jo) Johnston, Jay (Kristie) Johnston; great grandchildren, Sheridan Johnston, Shannon Johnston, Connor Johnston and Shane Johnston. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth, Robert and Ronald Ferguson; son-in-law, James Johnston.
