FRANK, Gwendolyn A. - Age 93, of Fenton, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday, September 15, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide Street, Fenton. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, where a rosary service will be help at 7 PM; visitation will also be held 9:30 AM until the time of mass Friday at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to the Loose Center or St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Gwendolyn was born January 6, 1924 in Flint, the daughter of Peter A. and Elizabeth C. (Wangler) Smith. She was a graduate of Flint Northern High School. Gwendolyn was married to Haden R. Frank April 27, 1973; and he preceded her in death on May 16, 2007. She worked at AC Spark Plug for over 32 years before moving to Prudenville with her husband Haden in 1989. She attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church when she lived in Prudenville; and also attended St. Pius X Catholic Church of Flint. Gwendolyn was a past member of and Doe at the Elks. She was involved at the Loose Center where she loved playing cards. Gwendolyn loved watching sports and was a big Tigers fan.
Surviving are: daughters, Kathy (Ed) Huot of Fenton and Karen Herford of Linden; step-daughter, Renee (Abie) Dykes of Florida; step-son, Greg (Tamara) Frank of Georgia; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; life long friends, Betty Thomas, Anna Williams, and the rest of the birthday club; and all her friends at Lockwood of Fenton.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; 7 sisters; 2 brothers; son, William Hanson; granddaughter, Stephanie VanDorn; son-in-law, Thomas Herford; and daughter-in-law, Sally Hanson. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com |
