Jane Barry Trotter, age 92, passed away peacefully, Wednesday October 23rd at Brookdale Memory Care in Grand Blanc. She was born on December 15, 1931 in Shreveport LA to the late Patrick and Maude Barry. Jane grew up near Shreveport on her family farm, adoring cats, bicycling, and studying piano. She was an excellent student and was graduated from high school in 1948. Jane received her Bachelor of Science in English and Spanish from Louisiana Poly Tech University in 1952. Later, she completed her Masters Degree from the University of Tulsa in Education. Jane loved teaching Middle School for more than 30 years. She finished her career in Medical Records at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa before retiring to Flint Michigan.

Jane was very active in the Flint Community. She tutored many students, volunteered at the Michigan School for the Deaf, and The Sloan Museum. She was very active in the Flint Institute of Arts.

Jane was greatly influenced by her adored Father who shared his loved of Spanish, Mexico, and Mexican culture. Well into her 80's Jane traveled to Mexico for six weeks each year for immersive study of Spanish at various universities. She was also
a world Traveler who explored Europe independently on many six week trips. She especially enjoyed attending Opera and classical music concerts in Paris and Vienna. Jane also loved museums, her favorites being The Musee D'Orsay in Paris and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

Jane was an accomplished artist who studied sculpting in her retirement and taught Sculpting at the Flint Institute of Arts for several years where she made many friends. She completed several bronze sculptures, some of which are on permanent display in flint City Hall entitled Honoring Heroines and Humanitarians-Women Who Have Contributed to a Better Life for All in This Community.

Jane is survived by her daughter Sara, son Barry, and dear friends, Doris Sain, Fran Holmes, Jim Mason, Ron Mason, Kelvin Frixen, and Jim Hazen. She will be deeply missed for her glorious smile, charming soft accent and brilliant talent.

Per Jane's wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Flint Institute of Art for Education.
