COATES, Elaine M. – of Mt. Morris, age 79, passed away May 13, 2014 at her residence. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, May 17, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Carl Simon celebrant. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-3 & 5-8 PM Thursday and Friday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Saturday at the church. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Outreach East, Davison.
Elaine was born in Flint, MI on February 20, 1935, daughter of the late James and Mary (LaRose) Lanford. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Elaine retired as a U.S. Postal Carrier.
Elaine is survived by her children, Charlotte (Michael) Solomon, Kevin (Sharon) Sheppard, Christine (Terry) Smotherman, William Coates, Patrick (Lisa Down) Coates and Robert (Lori) Coates; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, James Lanford and Henry Lanford; sister, Ethel (Chuck) Howell; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles.
