OBERLEY, Raymond E. - Of Flint, age 89, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Melody Brookwood Care Center with his family by his side.
Funeral service will be held 12 Noon Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Dan Louman officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery with military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Chevrolet Motor Post #3087.
Visitation 6-8pm Wednesday 11-3pm and 5-8pm Thursday 10am Friday until the time of the service at 12 Noon at the funeral home.
Contributions may be directed to Heritage Baptist Church.
Raymond was born in on February 18, 1927, the son of the late Ray and Alice (Hatt) Oberley. On July 22, 1966, he married Eunice Loafman in Flint. Raymond was a lifetime member of VFW Chevrolet Motor Post #3087 and American Legion Post 496. Raymond loved to spend time with his family and most of all he just loved his kids. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 38 years of service.
Surviving are 7 children, Jeff and wife Jenifer Oberley of Clio, Billy and wife Paulette Hill of Flint, Rick and wife Diane Hill of Flint; Linda and late husband Don Walker of Gladwin, Kathryn Reed of Florida, Garrett Oberley of Florida and Alvin Oberley of Manassas, Virginia;
13 grandchildren; and many great and great-great-grandchildren;
and sister, Joann and husband Jim Ruhala of Burton.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eunice, two daughters, Linda Hill and Nancy Reed, wife Cleo, brother Gil Oberley, sister Betty Mathews, and his beloved dog, Chino.
