Maxine Minnie Williams, age 73, lifetime Lapeer resident, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018. She was born May 9, 1945 in Detroit, to Robert and Della (Wilcox) Bibber.
Maxine attended Lapeer High School, Class of 1963. She worked at Oakdale Center in Lapeer for many years, first as an attendant and then as a teacher’s aide at Woodside School. Mrs. Williams also drove bus for Lapeer Intermediate Schools. When her children were young, she was Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader for their troops. Maxine was an active member of the Lapeer VFW Post #4139 Auxiliary, Lapeer Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #2427 and Lapeer Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2433. She enjoyed participating in group functions, serving as a trustee and helping with fundraisers for each of these organizations. Mrs. Williams was a “Social Butterfly”.
Maxine is survived by her children: James (Deanna Arbaugh) Williams of North Branch, Cynthia Williams of Davison, Kimberly Smith of Cadillac, Mark (Gina) Williams of Lapeer; grandchildren: Krystal Williams of Lennon, Jessica Priest of Kalkaska, Matthew Williams of Columbiaville, Amber Darnall of Falmouth, Megan Williams of Lapeer, Mark Williams of Lapeer and Tiffany Williams of Lapeer; great-grandchildren: Gavin, Jasmine, Macy, Colt, Lily and Lucy; siblings: Robert Bibber of Wisconsin, Fred (Linda) Bibber of Grand Blanc, Della Wright of Pensacola, and Rose (Jim) Book of Grayling; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son: Daniel Williams and parents: Della and Bob Bibber.
Visitation will be 4-8PM Tuesday, August 28, 2018 and 1-4PM and 6-8PM Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Visitation will also be 10-11AM Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Church in Lapeer. Maxine’s funeral mass will be 11AM Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow in Stiles Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to the family, checks payable to James William.
