HAMPTON, Billy Joe, Sr. – of Genesee, age 67, passed away suddenly August 18, 2015. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 24, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Tom Forgo officiating. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-3 & 4-8 PM Saturday and 12-8 PM Sunday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Monday. A Memorial Service under the auspices of the Welfare Masonic Lodge #517 will be held at 7 PM Saturday followed by the Eastern Star Nourmahal OES #282 at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Old Newsboys of Flint.
Bill was born in Datto, Arkansas on August 13, 1948, son of the late, Tom and Lucille (Starnes) Hampton. He married Ruth Watson on July 15, 1967 in Flint, MI. Bill and Ruth moved to Genesee in 1971. He worked as a truck driver and retired from Penske Logistics in 2007. Bill was a Past Master of the Welfare Masonic Lodge #517 and Past Patron of the Genesee Chapter #457 of the Eastern Star. He was a Cub Scout Master of Pack #109 of Genesee and a Big Brother in the Big Brother/Big Sister Organization. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time with family and friends up north or just about anywhere.
Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruth; son, Billy (Mary) Hampton of Genesee; daughter, Ann (Paul) Beaver of Gaylord; three grandchildren, Jessica, Billy III and CJ; brothers, John (Brenda) Winchester of Arkansas, Wayne (Deb) Gozie of Indiana, Gene (Carolyn) Hampton of Otisville, Cliff (Nancy) Hampton of Flint, Dale Hampton of Missouri, Robert (Roxanne) Hampton of Texas and Jimmy (Susie) of Missouri; sister, Bonnie Wolosonowich of Flint. Bill had many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Merry Locke.
