Wilma (Rodgers) Beard, age 84, of Columbiaville died May 18, 2015 at home with her family.
Wilma was born March 10, 1931 in Newport, Arkansas. The daughter of the late Charles and Jennie (Smith) Skyrme. She married Archie Rodgers on April 16, 1949, and he died January 14, 1979 and a later married Clay Beard on January 2, 1980, and he died July 10, 2010. She was a member of the West Deerfield United Methodist Church, where she served on many committees. She also enjoyed bowling, worked as an Avon Rep for 30 years, gardening, and her women’s circle group.
Wilma is survived by her son: Jimmy Rodgers, Joyce Dorsey, Bonnie ( Michael ) Simpson, Michael ( Connie ) Beard, Greg ( Janet ) Beard, sister: Charlene Ferguson, daughter in-laws: Cathy Rodgers and Carol Rodgers. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Archie & Clay, sons: Charles & Robert, brother: John.
Funeral service Thursday 2:00 PM at Jansen Family Funeral Home - Columbiaville, where friends may visit on Wednesday 3-8 PM.
Pastor Kay Leitelt officiating. Interment Meadowview Cemetery in Davison. Memorials in memory of Wilma may be made to the West Deerfield United Methodist Church. A special thank-you to Home Town Hospice, especially Jan for their care and compassion while taking caring of mom. |
