McCARTY, Ardella Mae - age 94, life long resident of Flint Twp., passed away December 25, 2018. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Friday, December 28, 2018 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, our temporary location, Hill Creek Church 5363 Hill Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Ellsworth Jackson officiating. Interment at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint . Visitation will be 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Thursday at Hill Creek Church. Those desiring may make contributions to American Cancer Society, or The Salvation Army, or The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
Ardella was born May 2, 1924 in Flint the daughter of Neil George and June Alice (Cudaback) Bigelow. She attended Utley School for 13 years and was in the first graduating class of Utley High School in 1942. Ardella married Charles Thomas McCarty Sr. on September 11, 1942 in Napoleon, OH and was married until his death December 5, 1975. She enjoyed being with family and friends and belonged to a pinochle card club since 1957. She also enjoyed sewing clothes for herself and others. In her middle years dancing was a favorite pastime. Reading and her passion for Detroit Tigers baseball were life long interests.
Surviving are: sons Tom (Yvonne) McCarty Jr., Michael (Carol) McCarty, and Gary Patrick (Esther) McCarty; 9 grandchildren, Chad (Kristine) McCarty, July McCarty-Murphy, Daniel McCarty, Michael McCarty Jr., Tommy McCarty, Pat McCarty, Chelsea (Sam) Allen. Chuck McCarty, Sean McCarty; 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. A special thank you to the staff of Cranberry Park, Clio.
Ardella was preceded in death by: parents; husband; sisters, Doris (Bigelow) Mills, and Eleanor Bigelow; brothers, Morris (Mike) Bigelow and Ralph S. Bigelow; in laws, John and Katie McCarty; grandchildren, Jack and Kiana McCarty; and companion and friend of 25 years, Albert Pickett. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
