Volz, Elizabeth R. “Betty” of Flushing, age 97, died Friday, June 7, 2024, at her home. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta will officiate. Burial will be at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw. Friends may call at the Rossell Funeral Home in Flushing on Tuesday from 1-8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
Betty was born on June 8, 1926, in Templeton, Iowa, the daughter of the late Clarence and Margaret (Friedman) Bengford. She was a 1944 graduate of St. Charles Catholic School in Detroit. Betty married Bob Volz on April 5, 1946, in New York City. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2003. Betty was a member of St. Robert Catholic Church and the Flushing Senior Center. She was an avid Detroit Tiger’s fan. Betty was the best mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma. To many neighbors and her friend’s kids, she was always “Grandma Betty”. She loved to camp with family and friends and travel with her daughter.
Betty was always there for family, friends, and neighbors-always lending a helping hand. She will be greatly missed by all.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Sue (Steve) Kapala of Clio; sons, Dave (Patty) of WA, Jim (Christina) of CA, Pat (JoAnn) of VA, Robert of TX, Mike (Rose) of TX, Matt of FL; daughters-in-law, Linda, Sandy, and Becky; grandchildren, Scotty, Brad, Ashley, Katie, Jim, Rick, Patrick, Steven, Alicia, Sandra, Kalynn; great-grandchildren, Cordelia, Renegade, Jaxson, Chandler, Ethan, Kathryn, Brittnay, Chase, Hayley, Gavin, Ethan, Layla, Jayden, Alexis, Cole, Carmen, Lenny; great-great-grandson, Ryder; one niece; three nephews; special friends, Eleanor, Carol, and Linda; and many other friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, Rick; sisters, Isabel Bengford and Bernice (Tony) Saverino.
