Melody was born in Flint, Michigan on June 4, 1954, the daughter of Alger and Marion Mitchell.
Surviving are children, Willow Procknow,
Roy Procknow and James Robinson II;
grandchildren, Joshua Verkennes, Selena Verkennes, Tyler Verkennes, Mikayla Robinson and Jonathan Vanover;
several great-grandchildren;
brothers, Aaron Mitchell and Gaylord Mitchell;
many nieces and nephews.
