Liwak, Elizabeth “Betty” Carto age 91 of Flushing, MI died September 20, 2024, at her home. Elizabeth was born on August 27, 1933, in Flint, MI, daughter of William J. and Mary V. Carto. Elizabeth attended All Saints Catholic Schools and graduated in 1951. She was a member of Dom Polski Polish Dancing Ensemble where she met her husband Joseph Jr. They were married August 22, 1953, at All Saints Catholic Church and remained members until the closing of the church in 2017. She was employed by General Motors (Buick City) and retired in 1987 after 27 years of Service.
She was a lifelong member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary Chapter 8 of Flint, MI, joining in 1958 where she held many positions in the organization including Chapter President, State President, and National President (1992-1994). She also volunteered at the Saginaw VA Medical Center.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, Brian Liwak, 5 grandchildren, Jarret Moore, Amanda (Owen) Grinter, Jenna Liwak, Veronica (Chip) Buckley and Ryan Liwak; 4 great grandchildren; and many other loving friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughters Nancy and Deborah, and son Craig.
The family will receive visitors 2:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, September 25, 2024, a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM, at Reigle Funeral Home/Sunset Chapel, 5501 Pierson Rd, Flushing, MI 48433 and on Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 AM. at St. John Vianney Parish, 2415 Bagley St, Flint, MI 48504. Mass will begin at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center. |
