Born on October 17, 1942, in Illinois, Dennis was the cherished son of Harley and Thalia (Dennhardt) Mitton. He grew up with the rich Midwestern values that would shape his character throughout his life.

Raised in the heartland of Illinois, in the quaint town of East Moline. Dennis was a proud graduate of United Township High School. His life was enriched when he joined hands in marriage with his beloved Barbara Jean Pringle on February 23, 1963, in Moline, Illinois. Their union was blessed with laughter, love, and the joyous addition of two sons, Dwayne (Terri) Mitton and Donald (Jennifer) Mitton, who further blessed him with the gift of grandchildren: Brittany Mitton, Erin Branka, Amber (Austin) Komejan, and Megan Mitton.

Dennis's brother, Brian (Judy) Mitton, also survives him, holding dear the memories of a lifetime shared. While Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gary Mitton, and his treasured wife, Barbara, who passed just earlier this year.

In 1986, Dennis made a significant life change, moving his family to Michigan to work for General Motors as an electrician. His nearly 30-year career with the company was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic, earning him the respect and friendship of his colleagues.

Though he once dreamed of a life amidst the fields and farm animals, Dennis found his true calling in the electrical trade. His decision to pivot from agriculture to a more stable career path demonstrated his foresight and his unwavering commitment to providing for his family.

Dennis's younger years were filled with the joys of the great outdoors. He cherished moments spent duck hunting and fishing, embracing the serene beauty of nature. He and his wife, Barbara, shared a fondness for the Quad City Raceway – she managing the concessions while he thrived in the excitement of the pits. Their shared adventures included tranquil vacations and memorable trips to Red Lake, Ontario, where they found peace and companionship in each other's presence. He was a member of the Durand VFW, the Eagles, the AmVets and the Moose Club where he and Barbara made many friends through the years.

A man of many talents, Dennis looked forward to finding solace in woodworking, a hobby that allowed him to express his creativity and meticulous nature. His hands were rarely still, always working and fixing something.

Those who knew Dennis would describe him as a handy man, always ready to lend his skills to another in need. And his passion for life's simple pleasures was infectious.

Dennis Wayne Mitton will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
