SIEGEL, Rita M. (Flynn) – Of Grand Blanc, age 95, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Fenton Healthcare.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11824 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Father Ken Coughlin officiating.
Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in East Tawas.
Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Scripture Service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Siegel will be at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the Mass.
Rita was born in Gladwin, Michigan on May 8, 1917, daughter of the late William and Louvina (Hewitt) Flynn and was a resident of the Flint area most of her life.
On June 22, 1940 she married Albert Siegel and he preceded her in death.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Rita was a beautician at the Lady Dove in the Hotel Durant and then operated her own shop from her home.
She loved knitting, crocheting and crafts of any sort. She taught most of her nieces and nephews how to fish.
Surviving are three sisters, Irene Wills of Texas,
Helen Keeler of Lake George, MI and
Barbara (James) Brophy of Flint;
sisters-in-law, Cherrill Flynn of Rochester Hills and Joan Flynn of Texas;
brother-in-law, Thomas Gormley of Flint;
many loving nieces and nephews, especially John and MariFrances Hartl, who cared for her needs for many years.
She was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
