TITUS, Vaughn D. – of Grand Rapids, formerly of Flint, MI, age 101, passed away Monday, August 19, 2024, at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Dean Stewart officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, will be in West Dayton Cemetery in Mayville, MI. The family will receive visitors from 4-7 PM on Friday, August 23, 2024. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, in Vaughn’s memory.
Vaughn was born in Flint, MI on November 16, 1922, son of the late Lyle E. and Goldie V. (Moore) Titus. Vaughn proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943-1946 during WWII. He married Dorothy Jean Nichols in Flint on June 2, 1946, and she preceded him in death on December 21, 1997. Vaughn lived more than 90 years in the Flint area before moving to Grand Rapids to reside with his family who lovingly cared for him during his remaining years. He dedicated his career to the U.S Postal Service. Vaughn enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He was a talented calligrapher and artist. Most of all, Vaughn loved spending time with his family. He especially loved making memories with his family at summer rental cottages near various lakes by Traverse City or in the Upper Peninsula.
Vaughn is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Pam) Titus of Grand Rapids, MI, James Titus of Flint, MI and Allan (Crystal) Titus of Tawas City, MI; grandchildren, Jessica Harris of Flushing, MI, Lyle (Melissa) Titus of Bellaire, MI, Julie Titus of Linden, MI, Lindsay (Jacob) Baysden of Seaford, VA, Kenneth (Renae) Titus, Jr. of Linden, MI, Keith Reynolds of Milwaukee, WI, Jenna Jablonski of Chicago, IL; David (Becky) Jablonski of Bonita Springs, FL, Matthew (Rosa) Jablonski of Grand Rapids, MI, and Joseph (Lindsey) Jablonski of Middleville, MI; great-grandchildren, Terrence Alex Love and Kayla Love, Ariel (Patrick) Kerr, Damion Titus, Mathew Lambert, Madison Lambert and Isabella LaPorte, Ethan Baysden and Dylan Baysden, Kendall Titus and Conner Titus, Etta Jablonski, Isla Jablonski and Cecilia Jablonski; great-great-grandchildren, Jaxon Kerr and Maisie Lambert. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy; infant son, David; sisters, Maxine Titus and Lucille Titus Johns; daughter-in-law, Judy Titus.
