Hromek, Anthony E. "Tony" – of Montrose, age 72, died Friday, June 5, 2015 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Don O'Guinn officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery with full firefighter honors. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-9 PM , Tuesday from 12-9 PM and Wednesday from 11 AM until time of service at 1 PM. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Juanita Hromek. Tony asked numerous times about Gemma Gauger and Judson Huber, babies who also suffer from heart disease. Therefore, the family will be contributing all money to their upcoming fundraiser. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Tony was born March 7, 1943 in Flint, Michigan to the late Tony and Permilla (Worvie) Hromek. He graduated from Hoover High School in 1961. He married Juanita "Pug" Thompson on December 19, 1964. Tony was retired from Buick Motor Division and was a member of UAW Local 599. He had resided in Montrose since 1975, coming from Flint Township. He attended New Covenant Free Methodist Church in Clio and Lamb of God Fellowship in Montrose. Tony was a volunteer fireman in Flint Township for 10 years and was a member of the Montrose Fire Dept. for over 40 years. He was honored as Firefighter of the Year and Citizen of the Month in Montrose. Tony was also a member of the Montrose Masonic Lodge #428 F& AM. He and his wife, Pug were honored as Grand Marshals of the Montrose Blueberry Festival. Tony was a very active member of the Montrose sports community and especially loved being involved in his grandchildren's sporting activities. He was a very accomplished bowler, having bowled a perfect 300 game and enjoyed golf. Surviving are: Wife, Juanita "Pug"; 3 daughters: Coetta Adams, Carla Vandefifer and Toni Sue (Mike) Atwell, all of Montrose; 6 grandchildren: Kylie Adams, Trevor Atwell, Kassidi Adams, Hannah Atwell and Noah and Eric Vandefifer; Sister, Carolyn Kaczmarek and her children: Debbie (Norm) Roberts, Karen Kaczmarek and Mike Kaczmarek; Sister in law: Marilyn Wright and her children: Corenna (Steve) Robertson, Denelle Benner and Lloyd Wright; Brother in law, Walter (Pam) Thompson and their children: William "Butch" Thompson and Alicia (Ken) Gembel. Tony was also preceded in death by his mother in law, Pearl White, father in law, Walter Thompson and brother in law, Don Kaczmarek and special family friend, Dorothy Jamnick.
