David George Turner
Age 75 of Laingsburg passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Hospice House of Shiawassee County.
Funeral services will be held 11am Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Strawser officiating. Burial will follow at Putnam Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 8pm.
David was born October 8, 1938 in Owosso, the son of Leon and Edna (Cole) Turner.
He graduated from Owosso High School, class of 1955 and attended the University of Michigan-Flint.
David was a member of Michigan Brown Swiss Dairy Cattle Association, Michigan Townships Clerys Association, N.R.A., Pheasants Forever, Michigan Steelheaders, Van Ettan Lake Sportsmen Association and Trout Unlimited. He enjoyed being outdoors and was passionate about his garden.
David married Laura Ann Smith at Owosso First Baptist Church on July 25, 1959; she predeceased him on September 17, 2007.
He spent 22 years as Sciota Township Clerk and 25 years working at Midland Ross along with being a dairy and crop farmer.
David is survived by his son Mark (Barbara) Turner of Brethren; grandchildren Jacob, Dustin, Brittany, Zeon and Trent; 7 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Theresa Turner of Owosso; brothers Dale (Rowena) Turner, Gerald Turner, Richard Turner and Keith (Linda) Turner; sister Lola Smith; life partner Michaelene “Micky” Jordan; nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
He was predeceased by his son Michael Turner on November 14, 2007.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice House of Shiawassee County.
