RACHEFF, Bennett Nicholas "Nick"- Age 80, of Grand Blanc, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at his residence. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 5PM Saturday June 10, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Internment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia at a later Date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the United States Navy Memorial, Washington, D.C. Nick was born June 12, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Theodore and Merle (Potter) Racheff. He married Joanne M. (Pongratz) in 1960 and she preceded him in death. Nick and his family moved several times with his Army officer father finally taking up residence in Evanston, Illinois. He graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1954 and enlisted in the Navy. Nick served as a Navy Air Traffic Controller for 25 years. He retired from the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in Norfolk, Virginia and moved to Frederick, Maryland where he continued to serve the Navy for 26 years as an Integrated Command and Control Communications Specialist for the Naval Sea Systems Engineering Command in Washington, D.C. at VITRO Corporations, SYSCON and Lockheed Martin. Loving father of son, James R. and Wife Tracy M. (Kreminski) Racheff of Frederick, Maryland; daughter, Amy J. (Racheff) and husband Brett A. Lendzion of Grand Blanc; grandfather of Andrew Lendzion, Bryan Lendzion, Emily Lendzion and Brady Lendzion of Grand Blanc, Emerson Racheff and William Racheff of Frederick. He is also survived by dear sister Nadeyne (Racheff) Maurer of Grand View, Idaho. He is also preceded in death by his step-mother Marie L. (Prabst) Racheff of Evanston, Illinois.
