Lawrence, Paul Joseph, Jr., age 74, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019, surrounded by his family at his home in Flushing. Funeral services will be 12 noon, Friday, January 11, 2019, at Rossell Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until the time of the service.
Paul was born in Flint, Michigan on January 23, 1944, the son of Paul Sr. and Marcella (Connors) Lawrence. He graduated from St. Michael High School in 1961. He married the love of his life, Diana Windle in 1964. He worked as a Teamster hauling and delivering newspapers for the Flint Journal for over 40 years.
Paul was strong, both physically and mentally. He battled heart disease and dementia for several years. He was intelligent, kind hearted and generous with his time and tools, willing to help anyone that needed it. He loved his family fiercely, often stating “I have the greatest family.” And he loved his friends as though they were his family.
Paul also loved the Detroit Tigers, Marlboros, Budweiser, popcorn and ice cream. He also loved talking, making it his mission to find out as much as he could about the people he met in his life.
Paul is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diana; daughter, Debra and husband Brendan; son, Michael and wife Courtney; daughter, Julie and husband Matt; grandchildren, Christopher, Alex, Justin, Makayla, Abbey, Matthew, and Anthony, each of whom he loved dearly; sisters, Barbara and husband Don Bruce; Lois Chartrand, Rita and husband Wayne Maier, Linda and husband Mike Thibedeau; as well as several nieces and nephews, including his favorite nephew, Rob Bruce. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Lawrence.
