GOODMAN, John S. - Of Fenton, age 94, died Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, May 28, 2019 St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 2143 S. Center Road, Burton,
Father Matthew-Peter Butrie officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.
Visitation 4-8pm Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1125 West Hill Road, Flint. A Parastas Service will be held 7pm Monday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Tuesday at church until the time of the service.
John was born in Flint on September 26, 1924, the son of the late Harry and Julia (Kapture) Goodman. On August 27, 1949, he married Rose Waskerwitz in Flint. John served 8 years in the United States Navy during World War II. He served aboard the USS Suwanee from 1943-1945. John retired from General Motors. He was a Mason and a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and served in many capacities. John enjoyed playing golf and fishing and spent the winters for 18 years in Brownsville, Texas.
Surviving are loving and devoted wife, Rose;
children, Michael Goodman of Royal Oak, Stephen Goodman of Fenton and Dennis and wife Eileen of Flint;
grandson Benjamin of Royal Oak;
sister-in-law, Dorothy Goodman of Grand Blanc;
and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by sister, Violet, brothers, Emil, Joseph and daughter-in-law, Susan.
