Died: 7/9/2024
Age: 83
Community: Lapeer, MI

Sharon Lee Walker, a dedicated member of the Lapeer Community throughout her life, passed away on July 9, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on October 1, 1940, Sharon entered the world at the family farmhouse on Hunters Creek Road in Metamora, MI, the daughter of Glenn and Irma (Evans) Bolton.

Sharon's career was marked by diligence and compassion. She achieved her Nursing Degree as valedictorian from Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing in 1962, beginning her professional journey with Dr. Zemmer in Lapeer. Following her tenure in private practice, Sharon obtained her bachelor's degree in nursing and contributed her skills to the Lapeer County Health Department until her retirement in 2003. Beyond her career, Sharon found joy in nature, indulging in walks, biking, and nurturing her flower garden. She was renowned for her generosity and commitment to community and family.

Sharon cherished travel, particularly to National Parks and then later to destinations such as New York City and Alaska. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandsons, recognizing each moment with them as invaluable.

Sharon is survived by her sons: Bradley (Barbara) Walker of Lapeer and Douglas (Kathryn) Walker of Fraser, CO; grandsons: Brandon (Elizabeth) Walker, Brian Walker, and a great-granddaughter expected soon; siblings: Arla Weaver of Williamston, Loraine (Bill) Reish of Port Sanilac, and Marvin (Judy) Bolton of Dexter and many nieces and nephews. Later in life, Sharon found deep companionship with David Nemenzik, a relationship that lasted over 20 years with lots of laughter and ‘steps’. They were very active together and strengthened the family to include David's daughter, Jean.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Larry Walker, in-laws Leona and Preston Walker, brother-in-law David Walker, aunt Leah Sutton, and brother-in-law Ike Weaver, as well as her parents.
