TATE, Gerald – Of East Jordan, formerly of Clio, age 72, died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, December 26, 2012.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Erik Cloeter officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, envelopes at the funeral home.
Visitation 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Jerry was born in Cardwell, Missouri on July 9, 1940, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto and Stella (Hyde) Tate.
He and Barbara (Garbers) Tate were united in marriage on January 20, 1962 and just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Jerry worked at Buick for 30 years, before retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the Clio Eagles and Birch Run Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, fishing and being up north. He enjoyed being with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and his great-grandchild.
Jerry leaves loved ones to cherish his memory, wife, Barbara;
son, Craig and wife Heather Tate;
daughter, Candi and husband Mike Davenport;
three grandchildren, Zachery Davenport,
Jeremy and wife Danielle Davenport and Ashley Davenport;
great-grandchildren, Broyer Gauge Davenport;
sister, Judy and husband Nate Climer;
brothers and sisters-in-law;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Leona Grace Gathright, Vicki Puckett, Bobbie Jean Falkner; brother, Otto Tate, Jimmy Dale Tate, Nicky Tate and William (Pete) Tate.
