BROOKS, Mrs. Lillian - Passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Baptist Trinity House Hospice in Tennessee Funeral service 9 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 West Flint Park Boulvard. Pastor John Thornton, officiating. Interment Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, 2020 East Hill Road. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 9 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Brooks will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. There will be no public viewing.

Mrs. Lillian P. Brooks was born on Saturday, September 19, 1942 in Shaw, Mississippi, the daughter of Geneva Sias Berry and the Reverend Lewis A. Berry, Sr. Lillian graduated from Lester High School of Memphis Tennessee in 1962 and was married to Charles Elliot Brooks, Sr. that year. They had four children: Charles, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Kermitt of New York, New York; Angela (Avery) of Flint, Michigan; and Anthony of Chelsea, Michigan. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, traveling, gardening and decorating.

Lillian leaves to cherish her memory: her children; her granddaughters, Arlesia Brooks of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Imani Brooks of Flint, Michigan; and Angelique Brooks of Lansing, Michigan; her sons-in-law, Kevin Avery of Flint, Michigan and Dan Manjovi of New York, New York; her mother of Memphis Tennessee; her sisters, Gloria Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee and Patricia Berry Jones of Houston, Texas; her brothers, Darris Berry of Fenton, Michigan and Roland Berry of Burton, Michigan; her sisters-in-law, Linda Berry of Fenton, Michigan, Forrestine Owens of Memphis, Tennessee and Selby Cochran of Memphis, Tennessee; and her brothers-in-law, John H. Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee and Frank Cochran of Memphis, Tennessee; her aunt Bessie M. Brown of Memphis, Tennessee and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

She also leaves her goddaughter, Ave Reagor of Memphis, Tennessee, and her dear friends, Bertha Cooke of Birmingham, Alabama; Mae Turner of Flint, Michigan; and Dorothy Norman of Flint, Michigan.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, her father and her brother, Lewis A. Berry, Jr.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Baptist Trinity Hospice of Collierville, Tennessee or the St. Louis Center of Chelsea, Michigan.
