HOPPE, Ralph E. – of Clio, age 89, went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, September 16, 2016 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor LuAnn Rourke officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-8PM and on Friday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Ralph was born April 24, 1927 in Alpena, Michigan to the late Charles and Olga (Kirschner) Hoppe. He married Georgina O. Davidson on August 26, 1950 and they enjoyed 60 years together. She preceded him in death February 8, 2011. Mr. Hoppe is a U.S. Army Veteran who served during WWII and the Korean War. Ralph was a car salesman in the Flint area for 35 years. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Ralph enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. He loved singing and listening to music – especially old country songs. Above all, Ralph loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are: Son, Kenneth (Susan) Hoppe; Daughter, Kathryn (Patrick) Harcourt; 4 grandchildren: Jeana (Joshua) Brokoff, Chad (Rochelle) Harcourt, Christine (Walter) MacDonald, Becky (Martin) Brandt; 6 great grandchildren: Walter Jr., Devin, Kirstin, Paige, Trevor and Olivia; Brother, Harry Hoppe; Sister, Lucille Slick; Many other loving family members and friends. Ralph was also preceded in death by his grandson, Brett Hoppe; 5 brothers: William, Robert, Irvin, Alfred and James; 3 sisters: Florence, Hattie and Olga.
